Virginia Homeless Solutions Program

The Eastern Shore of Virginia Housing Alliance offers the Virginia Homeless Solutions Program on the Eastern Shore in partnership with the Eastern Shore Coalition Against Domestic Violence and the Accomack-Northampton Planning District Commission and the Eastern Shore of Virginia Continuum of Care.

Limited assistance is available to rehouse eligible persons who are homeless and prevent persons from becoming homeless if they have a court issued eviction notice. In the past, these funds become available in July and generally stretch into the early spring. The assistance is limited to payment of rent. Applications are available year around at our offices at 23372 Front Street, Accomac, Virginia.

The Accomack-Northampton Planning District Commission (A-NPDC) fully complies with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Civil Rights Restoration Act of 1987, Executive Order 12898 on Environmental Justice, and related nondiscrimination statutes and regulations in all programs and activities.

Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, or national origin in programs and activities receiving Federal financial assistance. Specifically, Title VI provides that "no person in the United States shall, on the ground of race, color, or national origin, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance." (42 U.S.C. Section 2000d).

A-NPDC’s website, www.esvaplan.org, may be translated into multiple languages. Publications and other documents can be made available in alternate languages and formats upon request. A-NPDC public meetings are always held in ADA-accessible facilities and in transit-accessible locations when possible. Auxiliary services can be provided to individuals who submit a request at least seven days prior to a meeting. Requests made within seven days will be accommodated to the greatest extent possible. Any person who believes they have been aggrieved by an unlawful discriminatory practice by A-NPDC under Title VI has a right to file a formal complaint. Any such complaint may be in writing and filed with A-NPDC and/or the appropriate state or federal agency within 180 days of the alleged discriminatory occurrence.
